Through its technical cooperation programmes, IOM offers advisory services on migration or migration-related issues to governments, intergovernmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and others to assist them in the development, implementation, and management of migration policy and legislation to prevent illegal migration, facilitate regular beneficial migration, and provide assistance with various aspects of migrant processing. Technical co-operation also focuses on capacity building projects such as training courses for government migration officials and work towards solutions for emerging migration problems. These programmes respond to the needs of governments to develop coherent responses to migration challenges in a changing international environment.
