Summary
In 2006, IOM and its partners successfully implemented the MINAS-1 pilot project, funded under the ERF 2005 national call for proposals in Estonia. In the MINAS-2 follow-up project, IOM and UNHCR will jointly facilitate, in close cooperation with other project partners, the provision of technical assistance and capacity building for Estonian officials in order for Estonia to meet the requirements of the Act on “Providing International Protection to Aliens”. This Act aims to harmonize Estonian law with European Union directives on temporary protection, reception conditions, and qualification of asylum seekers. The current project aims to deepen the impact and widen the scope of activities carried out in the pilot project.
