Does IOM have an office in Finland?
Yes. The IOM office for the whole region (see Contact Us for countries covered) is based in Helsinki.
To which countries can IOM provide AVR assistance?
In principle, IOM Helsinki can provide voluntary return services to all countries in the world from Finland.
What does this assistance usually include?
The assistance as a rule includes processing IOM's AVR application form and reviewing travel documents; arrangement of international transportation; arrangement of transit visas and transit visa waivers as needed; airport assistance in transit countries; reception of returnees upon disembarkation and assistance with formalities at the border. You can find more information on the web pages of the project Developing Assisted Voluntary Return in Finland.
Can I receive pre-departure information while still in Finland? At present, IOM Helsinki does not counsel or interview prospective returnees from Finland through formalized counselling sessions. However, staff at IOM Helsinki are able to provide advice and information on voluntary return.
