Integration through Training- A Joint IOM / OSCE Project for Socially Vulnerable Women in Estonia |
|
Summary
This project assisted non-Estonian women, including ex-widows of Former Soviet military personnel and vulnerable groups of Estonian women in their integration into the society through a training programme. The goal of the project was to contribute to the integration of non-Estonian women into Estonian society through strengthening their Estonian language proficiency and cultural awareness. The project provided language and vocational training and a small number of small business grants to assist with securing employment for the participants.
In conjunction with the complementary language-training project funded by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the project assisted more than 200 women in their process of integration into Estonian society. At the end of the project, participant women had improved their Estonian language and professional skills and learned about the history and traditions of Estonia. The project also contributed to creating among the participants a feeling of ownership and self-worth for their future in Estonia.
