Summary
The 5th European Conference: The Exchange of Information on Integration Policies and Measures for Refugees' supported through the exchange of information: EU Government officials, representatives of NGOs, community leaders, social partners (trade unions, employers), media and representatives of academia , to meet the challenges arising from the integration of refugees in comprehensive and co-operative ways. The conference gave participants an opportunity to get a close view of the experience and further needs to support refugee integration from both a national and regional perspective. The conference was held in Helsinki in November 2001 and was attended by 130-150 people.

130-150 refugee NGO representatives, governmental officials, community leaders, social partners, academia and media representatives from EU Member States participated in an exchange on national and regional issues the integration of refugees

Key implementing partners that participated in the project steering committee included the EC, the Finnish Ministry of Labour, the Swedish Integration Board and the European Council on Refugees & Exiles (ECRE)
