AVR and Reintegration for Unsuccessful Asylum Seekers in Lithuania Print
Summary

This project will develop and strengthen the efforts of the Lithuanian Government in assisting asylum seekers while testing the potentially positive effects of a new innovative approach to “voluntary return” by assisting asylum seekers who are either still in the asylum process or unsuccessful asylum seekers currently living in Lithuania, willing to voluntarily return to their home country.

It will consist of an integrated three steps approach to provide: (1) pre-departure information and counselling, through different instruments that prove voluntary return to be a viable solution within the asylum policy; (2) a logistics network covering the return to home country as well as onward transportation to final destinations within its territory; (3) modest reintegration providing for a dignified/ non-painful return home. As a capacity building component targeted to promote best practices in administering Return operations in EU – study visit for Reception Centres personnel and migration officials will be organized to the selected EU country.
