The majority of those assisted in June returned to Iraq, 88 persons. Iraq is the leading country of return for the whole year also, followed by Ukraine, Albania, and Afghanistan.

99 percent of those returning in 2017 received support for their reintegration. Most of them received cash support, 75 percent of those were granted more than 900 euros. Two percent received in-kind-support to the amount of 1500 euros.

88 percent of those who returned were adults, and most of those were in the age group of 18 to 34 years.

IOM Finland's assistance to voluntary returnees from Finland is based on an agreement with the Finnish Immigration Service Migri, on the arrangement of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration. According to IOM, voluntary return should always be the preferred means of return, as it is the most sustainable alternative in view of the reintegration of migrants.
