IOM and the Agenda 2030

Migration and development are closely linked and well-managed migration plays a big role in and gives an immense contribution to sustainable development.

Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, the follow-up to the largely successful Millennium Development Goals, is wide-ranging and ambitious. It is composed of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), each goal consisting of several targets. It is the first time migration is included in the global development framework.

IOM is part of the United Nations. Since September 2016, it is the UN Migration Agency.
