64 persons returned voluntarily with IOM in July

From the beginning of the year 960 persons have returned through AVRR-programs (Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration), that are administered by IOM.

Most of those who returned were adults, 88 percent, and 12 percent were minors.

IOM Finland's assistance to voluntary returnees from Finland is based on an agreement with the Finnish Immigration Service, Migri. Those who return are granted either cash grants to help them reintegrate or are given in-kind-support like training.

According to IOM, voluntary return should always be the preferred means of return, as it is the most sustainable alternative in view of the reintegration of migrants.
