HOIKU goes on tour! HOIKU:n Suomen-kiertue on alkanut!

The IOM countertrafficking team has started their tour of Finland with an event in Turku on February 6th. The event is a regional follow-up to the launch of the HOIKU Guide on identifying victims of trafficking, directed at professionals in the field of social work and health. More events are upcoming!

IOM julkaisi tiistaina uuden ohjeistuksen sosiaali- ja terveysalan ammattilaisille,​ jotta he helpommin pystyisivät tunnistamaan ihmiskaupan uhrit työssään.

Tilaisuuden avannut sisäministeri Paula Risikko kehui ohjetta.

"Tämä on upea tuotos. Tässä oli ytimekkäästi ja selkeästi kerrottu mistä on kysymys ja mitä tehdä".

Almost 7500 persons resettled to four Nordic countries


In 2017 the resettlement unit of IOM Finland moved a total of 7478 persons to the four Nordic countries, in which we handle resettlement operations.

The biggest amount by far is for people bound for Sweden, with a total of 6301 persons. Of these 3401 were quota refugees, that were resettled to Sweden from third countries.

"They are so angry!" - We need to understand migrant's stress reactions better

"The migrants and refugees are so angry, the police officers and border guards  tell me - Guglielmo Schinináand I tell them it is a normal reaction to stress", says Guglielmo Schininá, who is in charge of psychosocial support programmes at IOM.

Discussion: How to manage labour chains with respect to human rights of migrant workers

​​FIBS and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) invite businesses to a discussion on February 13 to explore how they can manage their labour supply chains to respect human rights of migrant workers and their families. 

Launch of guide on recognizing victims of trafficking

 IOM Finland will launch an guide for social workers and health professionals on recognizing victims of trafficking on January 23rd. The Minister of   the Interior Paula Risikko will be opening the lauch event.

IOM Finland opens up discussion on AVRR

IOM Finland in November organized an afternoon of discussion with civil society actors to open up for a dialogue on Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration.

Iraq is the biggest country of voluntary return from Finland

 In November 119 persons chose to return to their countries of origin from Finland through IOM's programme for Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR). Of these 90 persons returned to Iraq.
